Still Alive

Against popular rumors, I’m still alive and kicking.  After releasing Zombies Unleashed (The Vampire from Hell Part 6), I took a full-time job that drained my time and creative resources. Of course there is no excuse that I should disappear for over a year.  Don’t worry.  I’m not gone just yet.

8What’s in the Works?

Three more installments of the Vampire from Hell series are on the table.  Part 7 is in the works.

Other Series

I’m working on other series too that you may enjoy.  More to come!

Thanks again for checking in to see where I’ve been and what has been going on.

Happy Monday everyone! It’s that time again. Thanksgiving is behind us and it’s on to Christmas. Each Monday through December, I’ll be participating in the Manday Monday Hotties Blog Hop sponsored by Felicity Heaton.

Today I’m featuring a favorite picture of mine I used while creating the character, Blick from The Vampire from Hell series. I based my composite of Blick on the actor Ryan Reynolds.

Here’s an excerpt featuring Blick from my series, the Vampire from Hell (Part 2) – A Vampire Among Angels

“Have you been up all night…again?”

Blick found me on the terrace, gazing at the ocean.  It was the break of dawn, and he was headed out for another day of training.  I wanted to ask him if he was okay with my missing a lot of our martial arts practice sessions, but I forgot the question when I saw him.  I feared my sleep deprivation was causing me to hallucinate, and then I remembered Blick’s change.

Since arriving at the House of G, Blick had transformed from his Lycan-Underworld-movie look to that of a tall, unassuming man with chiseled facial features and gleaming gold eyes.

“I can’t get used to your shift into human form.  Your goatee is very nice.  You are handsome for a hellhound, you know?”

“Is that a sense of humor I detect today?” he replied, ignoring my observation.  He was confident and determined standing there in his workout clothes which consisted of a bright white T-shirt clinging to his tanned lean frame, a pair of royal blue gym shorts, and white sneakers.  The wind from the sea pushed a few wisps of his jet black hair into his eyes and he brushed them aside.

Hearing the love in his soft baritone voice was music to my ears.  Since we didn’t need to be secretive anymore, we had fallen out of the habit of talking to each other telepathically.

“What about the nightmares?” he asked.

Tears rose in my eyes.  I gritted my teeth and fought to compose myself, so I didn’t burst out crying like a little girl in front of him.  “Ongoing,” I muttered.  “Anytime I try to sleep, I see Father and Stephanie turn into monstrous snakes and chase after me.”  Because I hadn’t been able to sleep for weeks, my life consisted of three activities: wandering around Blick’s home, surfing on my computer, or hanging out on the terrace (usually at night).

He nodded and placed his hand on my forehead, checking my body temperature.  “You’re burning up,” he insisted.

“I think that’s just how I am now.”  I smiled up at him weakly.  The seven-foot hellhound I had raised from a pup in Hell was actually a seven-foot shapeshifting angel who was trying his best to take care of me.  I called him ‘Papa’ especially when he was fussing over why my health was steadily declining.  Blick wasn’t the only one worried about me.  I was too.

“A friend is coming by later with some supplements.  Will you answer the door this time, please?” he asked.

We stood on the terrace of his home in silence for a few moments, watching the waves.  About eight two-story properties of high ranking angels including Blick’s home lined a sandy white beach nestled in a cove.  His home was in the center of the arch-shaped cove, and I could look out from the terrace on the second floor and see the ocean.  Towards the east, the ocean stretched out to what seemed like infinity.  It was more beautiful than I’d imagined oceans could be.  Now in the morning sunlight, the water glistened and danced, merging into hues of light blue and green.  Were the oceans on Earth this blue?  One day, I thought to myself, one day I’ll find out.

Excerpt from The Vampire from Hell Returns (Part 4)

If I could count the times I have woken up tied to a chair, I’d be a millionaire by now.  That’s where I found myself when I heard the voice of Stephanie, my demon sister.
“Welcome to Hell! We’re having a party in your honor, and you’re sleeping through it,
sssister,” she hissed.
I felt a blow blast across the right side of my head.  A hit delivered by someone I couldn’t see.  A blow for my sister’s amusement.

“What a lovely welcome home, dear sister!” I said sarcastically as I raised my head.It was on now. I smacked my mouth open wide, cranking my neck upwards as I extended my fangs.  The freakier I could look, the better, I thought.  When I surged my head upwards, a sharp pain sliced into my neck.  Something restrained me.  My fangs flipped inwardly and retreated to their hiding spot in the roof of my mouth. I tasted my own blood, and I had not bitten my tongue.  This could be bad, I thought.

“I’d be careful if I were you, sissy,” Stephanie said.  “That collar has spikes going into your neck.  The more you move, the more Typhean there will turn the corkscrew that holds the collar together.  The spikes are drilling into your neck.  If you jump suddenly, it’ll rip your head off, and then where will you be? One dead vampire.”

You Haven’t Seen the Last of the Vampire from Hell (Snippet & New Promo Art)

Part 4 is in Production

You haven’t seen the last of the Vampire from Hell. Indeed, Part 4 is rising. I’ve had a few people ask me and many more people check my Coming Soon page on my blog, so I thought I’d share a blog post today.

I haven’t stopped my series, The Vampire from Hell. I’ve just run into some real life complications while writing the next installment, “The Vampire from Hell Returns (Part 4).” That’s why it’s taking me so long to get this done. I apologize for making all of you wait. But please remember, I’m still here and still writing this story for you. It’s not over. You’ll hear more from Rayea soon.

Releasing Date for Part 4?

Because I’ve already balked on Part 4’s release more times than I’d like to admit, I won’t be declaring a release date for this installment or future installments. If everything goes well, Part for will be released ON or BEFORE August 31, 2013. My birthday is Labor Day weekend and I want to have this next installment in your hands before then.

What I can say that I will be doing is getting ready for the release when it’s two weeks out. Once you see me talking a lot about Part 4, that will give you a good indication. I’ll probably announce a Release Weekend so that when it goes live on Amazon and Barnes & Noble everyone will see the links.

Once this installment does go live, I’m going to be promoting the Hell out of it. (Sorry for the pun.) You’ll be sick of hearing about Part 4 after another two week period. I’ll go ahead and apologize now for that. If you’d like to help me promote Part 4, join my Street Team. I’ll be giving away prizes to people who go above and beyond with helping me promote this book.

The Latest Promo Cover & Snippet

Below is the latest promo cover I put on my Facebook page for Part 4. This is from a possible closing scene to Part 4. I’m still working on it. This is the first time I’ve written the ending before the Prologue because I have a specific idea of how Part 4 will lead in to Part 5. Yes, a Part 5 installment is already being worked on. 😀

As I write, I’m creating new ones every few weeks. You can see all of them at

Snippet from “The Vampire from Hell Returns (Part 4)” –

“Suddenly I felt the fear rise up in the pit of my stomach.  It had always been my reaction when Father screamed or yelled at me.  Instantly and inwardly, I backed down.  No questions asked.  Then it dawned on me.  I could end this cycle here and now.  I didn’t need Father’s blessings or Stephanie’s sisterly love.  I didn’t either of them.  You are not your father’s daughter.  I didn’t have to be Satan’s daughter anymore.  I could be just me, whoever that was.  I had people who love me.  Me, just for me, despite everything that had happened to me before.  And I had tried to help the people here, giving them my blood to survive Stephanie’s tortures.

Finally I rose to my feet and I heard Stephanie gasp in horror.”

Author Note: My phrase “Part 4 is rising” has many meanings to me as I write this. One being of course – as you may guess – Rayea possibly standing up (literally and figuratively) to her father. We’ll see how the writing goes with this ending scene.

Have a great week everyone!

Blog Hop – The Next Big Thing

October 17th Blog Hop – The Next Big Thing
I’d like to thank Eva Marquez, for inviting me to the blog hop. It was a lot of fun. As a part of this blog hop, check out the other authors below who are also participating in this today.

Find out more info on Eva’s latest release, Sweetest Taboo. Click here.

What is the working title of your book?

My next installment in the Vampire from Hell series. It’s called “The Vampire from Hell Returns (The Vampire from Hell Part 4)”

Where did the idea come from for the book?

A t-shirt actually. Around 2010 I had been brainstorming on an idea for a paranormal book. At the time I was taking a writing fiction class and I thought of an idea. What if Satan turned one of his daughters into a vampire in Hell? And what if she was a fan of mankind, not interested in his quest for world domination? What would she be like? Meet Rayea, the Vampire from Hell. Oddly enough this idea hit me when I bought a t-shirt at Wal-Mart. It had the phrase “Zombie Vampires from Hell” on it so that turned into “The Vampire from Hell.” This is what it looks like and I still wear it actually 🙂

What genre does your book fall under?

I’d say it’s Paranormal Fantasy, but many people tell me it’s also Young Adult. I’d say both genres are possible because I get emails from a wide range of people, usually an age range of 13-year-old on up.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Hahaha, I haven’t thought of that, but I suppose since I do base many of my characters on celebrities I’m intrigued with, I’d say I already have a cast list. This is just my idea of the characters. Anyone who reads my series may have a different idea for who each character could be played by. Here we go:

For the bad guys, I asked my readers to help me select possible actors for Rayea’s evil sister, Stephanie and her father, Satan. Here’s who they picked:

Stephanie could be played by any of these actresses – Genevieve Padalecki, Milla Jovovich, Uma Thurman or Rooney Mara.

Satan/Lucifer could be played by any of these actors – Michael Sheen, Al Pacino, Ron Perlman or Peter Stormore

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Rayea is a daughter of Satan, and a vampire. But she’s on our side.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

A few months

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Maybe Twilight or the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I took a short story class at a local college in the summer of 2010. By the end of December, I had a polished short story of 20 pages that I thought was a nice piece of work. My writing instructor was a published author of paranormal romance. She had gotten published the traditional way (getting her manuscript accepted by a major publishing house). When she read my story, she startled me with two observations: 1) She had enjoyed reading my story, and 2) She suggested my looking into publishing it online. “Publishing Ebooks is the up and coming thing,” she said.

I shared this news with my writing friends and asked if they had thought of publishing their books as ebooks on sites like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Smashwords. I couldn’t sit still with the new information I’d received (literally). Seeing a book I wrote on the site was a wonderful notion. And I could do it all on my own? I could help my friends get their manuscripts published as ebooks. It was possible! It was a great spark I needed to ignite my dream again.

With getting a friendly push from that writing instructor, I decided to get the short story published. I approached and published through their site as an Indie Author. Published in January 2011, Part 1 is 20 pages and that is the original short story that started the Vampire from Hell series. Had I not met that instructor while being in her writing class, I probably would still be struggling to gather the courage to “put myself out there.”

I will have to say that it’s the first thing I learned about Independent Publishing and I really stress to other writers who want to get published. There are ways now to get published without going through the traditional publishers. You can’t think too long about waiting or sitting on the sidelines, hoping for the right time, or wondering if someone will buy your book. You have to just do it and “put yourself out there.” Some people like my series and my characters and some don’t. And for me, that’s okay. My readers love my books and that’s good enough for me.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

I’ve been told my series is a new twist on the vampire myth and I think it is too. How many vampire books do you know of with a vampire forged in Hell who fights for the good guys?

Thanks so much for stopping by and please check out these authors’ posts this week for October the 17th as we continue The Next Big Thing Blog Hop.
